First-year scholarship midshipmen may disenroll from the program at any time without incurring service obligation or financial penalty.  Recoupment of all tuition dollars paid will be required of students who disenroll after the start of their second year.

Graduates of the NROTC scholarship program are required to serve a minimum of five years on active duty as a Navy or Marine Corps officer, with training-intensive communities such as aviation requiring longer service commitments.
